CHESS - in Swedish
Chess opened on 23 February 2002. During the course of its 325-performance run at the Cirkus Theatre in Stockholm half a million people experienced Chess in Swedish.
This contemporary classical musical was originally written by Benny Andersson, Tim Rice and Björn Ulvaeus. The original version of Chess premiered in 1986 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London, where it continued to play to packed houses for three years.
Chess was adapted for Swedish audiences by director Lars Rudolfsson, who also - together with Björn Ulvaeus and Jan Mark - wrote the Swedish lyrics.
